Tina Colman’s 20-year legal career has taken her from the Eastern Seaboard to the Hawaiian Islands, focusing on banking and finance, commercial litigation, and business restructuring and bankruptcy. "My practice covers the life of a business," says Colman. Recent representative matters have included:
- the foreclosure of a Kona shopping center
- the bankruptcy of a Honolulu performing arts organization
- the protracted receivership of an Oahu strip mall
- the defense of a major pharmaceutical company accused of fraud and misrepresentation
Colman’s clients have also included commercial lenders and servicers, small- to mid-sized businesses, secured and unsecured creditors, and business owners, for whom she handles business disputes, business torts and contract disputes, commercial debt collection, derivative litigation, fraudulent conveyance, professional malpractice, and Uniform Commercial Code issues. Colman advises clients on commercial workouts and consumer protection laws. In her business restructuring and bankruptcy practice, she provides counsel on the acquisition of distressed businesses, litigation, receiverships, and turnaround consulting.
Colman is admitted to the state bars of Hawai`i, New Jersey and Pennsylvania; to the U.S District Courts in Hawai`i, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Colorado and Michigan; to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third and Ninth Circuits; and to the U.S. Supreme Court. She earned her J.D. from Rutgers University School of Law at Camden, and her undergraduate degree in Classical and Oriental Studies from Brandeis University. Her professional affiliations include the American Bankruptcy Institute and the Turnaround Management Association. Her community involvement includes joining the Board of Directors of Easter Seals Hawaii.
